I met Doortje when she was giving a lecture at the University of Amsterdam. She spoke about sexual pleasure not being a luxury but rather a fundamental human right that everyone deserves to experience. After the lecture finished, I left craving more. I wanted to hear what else she had to say, and I knew I needed to record a podcast with her so others could enjoy her wisdom and positive attitude. Despite way too many “precisely” from my side, I hope you will enjoy this episode as much as I did.

Doortje Braeken van Schaik has more than 35 years of experience in adolescent sexual reproductive health and rights. She is the co-author of the International Sexuality Education Guidelines by UNESCO and a board member of the Global Advisory Board on Sexual Health and Wellbeing. In 2014 she received the golden medal from the World Association for Sexual Health for her contributions to Comprehensive Sexual Education. Doortje worked on guidelines for the sexual reproductive health of young people for WHO. She is the author of seven pleasure principles for The Pleasure Projects.
